To design, develop, and implement a digital health ecosystem that leverages community health Volunteers (CHVs) within the health system to support and improve early antenatal reporting and continuum of care for pregnant women in underserved communities in Ghana.
To contribute to pioneering the health system and community co-created digital solutions to improve the overall continuum of care for pregnant women and newborns in Ghana. To achieve this bold vision, ENCOMPAS is applying robust tools in implementation science to inform health system learning practices, thereby providing opportunity for scale-up upon a successful pilot.
The ENCOMPAS project addresses late reporting, guarantees focused maternity care by leveraging on digital technology to improve referral procedures at minimal cost using Teleconsultation (TLC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology (E-Platform and Preg-App). Our partnership will leverage on community actors (such as volunteers, beneficiaries and licensed chemical sellers) and health system actors (health providers) for early pregnancy detection, reporting, and linkage to care using TLC as entry point to promote maternity care. Our proposed E-platform and Preg-App will link community-based pregnancy testing by C-MHVs and will allow for early trimester pregnancy reporting to facilities. M-CHVs will be linked to licensed chemical sellers through an E-platform for enhanced pregnancy testing and supplies of test kits at community level and the Preg-App system will promote health system women interlinkages for antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC).
